Scooby-Doo Villain 14/41: Spooky Space Kook

I'm not sure how far my interest in this project will take me, but I thought it would be fun to draw an animated portrait of all 41 Scooby-Doo villains from seasons 1-3. I guess I've decided to start with Spooky Space Kook.

Groovie Goolies

I've been watching a lot of Groovie Goolies recently. Not only is it almost Halloween, but it's also a remarkably easy show to fall asleep to. Filmation did the animation so the whole thing is basically still images and recycled loops, and there's no plot ever, so, go ahead, take a nap. It's still really good though.

Moomin VS Hippo

Moomin looks like a hippo, but he isn't a hippo. He's a troll. I'm pretty sure if he ever met a real hippo, he'd be pretty confused.

Stream of Consciousness Animation #1

I've been in an animating mood recently, but I don't have any animation projects to work on, so I just bought a bunch of index cards and started doodling with no purpose or direction. It was fun. I'm sure I'll do some more soon.

Count Duckula

I had to import a European DVD player so I could own the "Count Duckula: The Complete Collection" boxset. Best decision I've ever made.

Flapjack and Chowder Tell Old Jokes

I was originally going to do a series of comics where Edwardian aristocratic children tell each other jokes, but I really didn't like drawing Edwardian aristocratic children, so I decided to make it star Flapjack and Chowder instead. I think I've got at least two more of these in me.

H.R. Pufnstuf

I really do love H.R. Pufnstuf, but, wow, he's creepy.

BATPEN and his PEN WARD

This bit of wordplay popped into my head while I was sleeping last night. It seemed a lot dumber once I woke up. I felt like I needed to draw it anyway just to get it out of my head.

Grimace and Master Shake

Did you know that Grimace used to have four arms and would run around stealing everyone's milkshakes? It's true. Therefore I was compelled to draw this.

Pogo the Possum

The next project I'm working on involves animals in a forest so I thought I'd do a few studies of Walt Kelly's "Pogo".

The End of That (work in progress)

Whenever I’m not sure which project to work on next, I revert back to a short film of mine called “The End of That”. It’s only 30 seconds long, but I’ve been working on it (off and on) for about 4 years now. I’m working on it again.

Day 2 of my cryptozoology art challenge. Full disclosure, I based the goatman's head on the goat from Gravity Falls. Especially his creepy goat eyes.

Day 1: The Dover Demon

I just started a 30 day cryptozoology art challenge. Each day I'm going to draw a different pre-determined mythological creature. I had never even heard of this one. I just based it on loose descriptions I cobbled together from the internet.

Mayor McCheese

While driving across the country recently, I was reminded how many McDonald's there are in this country. I'm not really a fan of their food, but I do like the old "McDonaldland" characters. They're all so strange and likable yet somehow grotesque at the same time. Very odd.

Driving From One Side of America to the Other

I recently drove from Los Angeles, CA to Atlanta, GA. To keep myself entertained, I shot a few seconds of video every hour from my car's dashboard.

The song is "In The Deep Time" by Candy Claws. Go buy their album "Hidden Lands" (or any of their other albums).

MADVILLAIN

I was planning on making another cartoon title card, but, along the way, it just turned into a regular picture. Oh well. I like it anyway.

King Lollipop Cartoon Title Card

I made another fake Hanna-Barbera style title card for a musician. This one is all about Cody Blanchard, also known as, King Lollipop, the Goblin King of the junkyard, stealing pies from all the windowsills in the wasteland!

By the way, the background is based on an old Huckleberry Hound title card.

Mabel Pines (Possessed)

I really like the show "Gravity Falls" (especially Kristen Schaal as Mabel Pines). In the most recent episode ("The Inconveniencing"), Mabel got possessed by some ghosts and got real spooky for a few moments. This is from that scene.

iPhone vs. 3DS

I found an old doodle for this idea in my sketchbook last night. It's probably over a year old, but I suddenly had the need to finish it off.

The Fiery Furnaces gif

This is the animated gif version of the two Fiery Furnaces portraits I did last week. That's Matthew Friedberger and Eleanor Friedberger morphing back and forth into each other. I may do an animated short using this style of depiction soon.

This is the first of three (planned) portraits of Claire Boucher (a.k.a. Grimes) that I'm working on. I wish I knew who took the original photos that I'm basing these illustrations on so I could give them credit.

Mugshot Illustration Test

This started off as a method/color test, but I like how it turned out. The image is from an old mugshot I found online. Using this same method for animation should work out pretty well I hope.

Ted Stuff

I've been working on the marketing campaign for the new Seth McFarlane movie, "Ted", for the past few months now. Today we released a someecard parody that I drew a couple of weeks back. I've included a couple of blank templates if you feel the notion to make your own.

I have some more illustration and animation work I've done for this movie coming out soon. I'll post it here when it's released.

Daniel Dumile Changes His Name ... Again

No matter which name he's using, I love DOOM. I hope someday he teams up with Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood for a whole album and they call it RADIODOOM. That would make me incredibly happy.
