Animation Reel 2014

I hadn't updated my animation reel in a few years, so it was a lot of fun to put this together. Many thanks and praise to all of the other animators who I collaborated with in some of these scenes.

Sonic Sleuth (Sherlock / Sonic Youth "Goo" Parody)

I was wearing my "Goo" shirt the other day and this image came to mind. If this doesn't make any sense to you, it's the cover of the Sonic Youth album "Goo" mashed up with characters from the BBC show Sherlock. I also got the idea for a Phantom Tollbooth version so, yeah, "Sonic Booth" is coming soon too.

Groundhog Day Potluck Invitation

This is an invitation I made for a potluck my wife and I threw recently. I like it though so I thought I'd post it up. Obviously the blocked out information at the bottom wasn't blocked out on the real invites. I'm just not prepared to share my real address and whatnot with the internet. We had the movie Groundhog Day playing on a loop in the background at the party. It was pretty boss.

Record Needle in the Hay (Work in Progress)

I've got a big comic book project called "Record Needle in the Hay" coming soon. These are some early character designs. More to come soon (as soon as I get some other projects out of my way).

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu gif

I've slowed way down on making these geometric portraits, but I found this one half finished on my computer the other day and had to finish it. I genuinely adore Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's music videos. They are magic.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Animated Pixar Parody

One of my favorite projects thus far in my animation career has been a short segment I worked on for It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. A crew of a couple dozen of us at Floyd County Productions made it and it's got lots of Pixar homages sprinkled throughout. It aired a little while ago in an episode called "The Gang Saves the Day".  You can find it online (at least for now) at this link.

We also made a behind the scenes video which you can see here.

Camp Weedonwantcha Fan Art

One of my favorite artists, Katie Rice, has a new web comic called Camp Weedonwantcha. It's amazing. I wanted to make some fan art for it.

Where Have I Been?

Wow, I haven't posted here in a while.  Two reasons for that. One, I post most of my stuff on my Tumblr page now. If you want to keep up with me, you should just follow me at sethnjohnson.tumblr.com . But also, I've been animating and designing props for the FX show Chozen for the past year or so. This cuts into my drawing for fun time. I'm gonna try and update some stuff today though.

... but, yeah, watch Chozen on FX. 10:30 pm on Mondays.
